Statement from Congressman Holding Following House Action on H.R. 307
 
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today Congressman George Holding (NC-13) released the following statement regarding the House’s action on H.R. 307, the “Pandemic and All-Hazards Preparedness Reauthorization Act of 2013”:
 
                “The legislation the House passed yesterday is an essential part of making sure the federal government is prepared to respond to biological disasters. Keeping our citizens safe is government’s first responsibility and I was proud to support this legislation. I urge my colleagues in the Senate to act quickly on this vital legislation.”
 
Background: Yesterday, the House passed H.R. 307, which would reauthorize and improve the “Project BioShield Act of 2004” and the “Pandemic and All-Hazards Preparedness Act of 2006 (PAHPA).” If enacted,  order to strengthen the nation’s preparedness against flu epidemic.  The House passed two similar bills in the 112th Congress: H.R. 2405, the “Pandemic and All-Hazards Preparedness Reauthorization Act of 2011” and H.R. 6672, the “Pandemic and All-Hazards Preparedness Reauthorization Act of 2012”. Eastern North Carolina is a global leader in vaccine manufacture.
