Congressman George Holding (NC-13) issued the following statement in response to the President's State of the Union Address tonight:

"Tonight we heard a lot of familiar promises; the president is going to help struggling families by creating more government programs and collecting more taxes.  To put it bluntly, the president tries a solution, it fails, and then he tries the same solution again.

"Both Republicans and Democrats in Congress understand that producing more energy – such as the Keystone pipeline – will help working families.  Both Democrats and Republicans understand the two new trade agreements being considered could – if handled correctly – help create jobs.  The president has tried his ‘my way or the highway’ approach for six years.  It hasn’t worked.  Now it’s time for the president to stop saying ‘no’ and start saying ‘yes’ to new solutions."
